This is national Banned Books Week, celebrating your freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Be sure to stop by the library every day this week to submit your guess in our Banned Books Week contest. Test your knowledge of banned books here on the banned books quiz.
Enter the San Antonio Public Library’s annual Young Pegasus poetry competition. Selected poetry will be published in the anthology and winners will be honored at an award ceremony. The deadline for submission is December 15. Click here for complete details.
On Saturday, October 1, we will be traveling to the Austin Teen Book Festival. If you would like to attend, stop by the library for information and a permission form. The cost is $15. Money and your permission form are due by Sep. 16 to secure your spot. Space is limited to 15 students. We will leave OHS at 8:30AM and return at 6:30PM.

Meet Rick Riordan, author of the Lightning Thief series and the upcoming The Throne of Fire (Kane Chronicles Book 2) on Saturday, May 14, at 4:00 pm at the La Cantera Barnes & Noble. This is a fundraiser for the Friends of Northside Libraries, so let the cashier know you want your purchase to count towards Northside Libraries when you check out (including drinks at the cafe!), and we will get a percentage of the sale!
